For becoming a successful radiology technician a formal training programs in radiography is carried out which may vary from a duration of 1 to 4 years and this leads to a certificate or a degree in the respective field.  A two-year associate degree programs are most prevalent among these.
Admission to radiography programs requires, at a minimum, a high school diploma or its equivalent qualification.

In this program of a radiology technician the High school courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology seems to be helpful.  The programs provide both theoretical and practical instructions in anatomy and physiology, procedures in patient care, protection through radiation, physics of radiation, imaging principle, medical terminology, positioning of patients, radiobiology, medical ethics and pathology.

Good radiology technicians has to work as a team and should be sensitive to patients’ physical and psychological needs.  They should have the attitude of paying attention to details, and follow instructions.  In addition, good radiology technicians should inculcate in him the skills for operating complicated equipment`s which requires mechanical ability and manual dexterity both.

The function of a radiology technicians includes the following modalities of work which includes the following.

Fluoroscopy which is a type of radiography used to visualize the digestive system and monitoring with the administration of contrast agents to the vessels and organs within the body.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging abbreviated as MRI which forms a 2-D or 3-D image of different tissues within the body.

Sonography which uses high frequency ultrasound and is used increasingly due to its patient safety since no radiation exposure is encountered, economy, and versatility in obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, cardiac, abdominal, vascular and musculoskeletal systems within the body.
